Is there an easy way to enable multi-threading encoding/decoding in Python module?

Basically the title. I'm looking for a way to speed-up decoding times using the Python .exr module. I understand the patch/fork will be required but still can't understand how much effort does it imply

Not supported, but it shouldn't be hard to implement.

You may want to use oiio instead, it has a lot more options.

have you tried pyexr or imageio with the EXR plugin? They might offer better performance out-of-the-box.
