I can't use my mouse in the menu

I'm sorry if there has already been a response to a similar project that I haven't seen, but when I try to press on any of the options in the menu with my mouse, nothing happens. It is as if the mouse hasn't clicked, so I can't adjust any of the settings. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I can use my keyboard for the settings I can just fine, it is the mouse that is the problem.
