RestDocConstants.ResponseCodes not HTTP/1.1 compliant

Since only two response codes are available (200, 500), the documentation of possible response codes for a URI is affected.
I have already resolved this issue locally and propose the change. What procedure should I follow? Should I fork from the Master branch and push the proposed changes to GitHub? Or upload a patch?
