Can we update the auto-setup for Codex

Can we fix the auto-setup to append to the toml file in the correct format instead of just ocerriding it, i keep forgetting it does this is and then I need to setup my config.toml for scratch every time

Could you share what it looks like on your .toml file when you configure it? It's meant to parse what's in your TOML file and only update the MCP section.

Is it overwriting the entire TOML file?
Is it overwriting "just" your MCP section?

It writes the JSON structure to the file like you would setup and MCP server for Gemini

It shouldn't write any JSON? This is what it wrote for me:

Tried using chatgpt to convert json to toml (using codex cli in windows terminal) but that didn't work.

Any idea how to fix it so I can use it until this is fixed?

@gravitydeepimpactsun when you press "Configure" you get JSON instead of TOML in your configs? Can you also take a screenshot of the manual configuration view - that should also display TOML. What version are you using?

Codex has some bugs on Windows that prevents it from connecting. Have a look at a workaround here: #315

@msanatan Unity-MCP 6.1.0, also when I went into manual setup it some how overwrote my config.toml. I think there needs to be some sort of warning prompt as it may wipe other MCP servers people may have in there.
