I'm current toying with the idea <gasp!> of creating a minimal v0.50 version of this graphics set. I'm not really planning on making it complete. I just want something that will get people excited about the idea of working on a v0.50 graphics set. At the moment, I think everybody is to afraid to start work on it :-)

Would it be possible to get an explicit license for these tiles (either here in the repository, or at least offer me one)? I know licensing is not a thing people often think about in the modding community, but I don't want to use assets without clear permission to do so.

The original author has a post somewhere in the original forum thread authorizing the use of the tiles for DF, but the thing is, that was a long time ago and there's been a lot of tile art added since.

Probably the person you need to talk to is jecowa. They were at least the most recent active maintainer. I know they made a lot of the most recent art, altars and dice and so on. Looks like it's been a minute since they posted on the forum, but they're moderately active as /u/jecowa on reddit.

I sure do hope you can spark something in the tileset arena! Best of luck, let me know if there's anything I can do vis-a-vis contacts or getting technical assistance from Bay 12 or Kitfox.

Thanks for the feedback! If I get enough energy to do it, I may just press on. I'll make a separate project for it so that it's easy to axe it if someone complains. But Pheobus seems like something that will excite people. And, really, that's all I'm looking to do. Not really interested in making a graphics set myself :-)
