Show running timer as a floating overlay over other apps

Feature description

It would be extremely helpful if the timer countdown could be displayed in the app widget, so that users could multitask while the timer is running down.

Think about watching a video while cooking, and being able to see how long remains (so you can stop everything if it burns, or just see how long remains 🤷)

The default Clock app on Samsung phone does just that;

Not sure that is easily doable, but maybe displaying the countdown timer in the widget would be easier? 🤔

Why do you want this feature?

So I can cook while playing a video and looking at the timer 🤷 (or do any kind of multitasking while looking at a timer I guess)

The term "widget" means something else on Android. What you are asking for is a floating countdown/timer overlay.

Yes, I understood that.

A floating thing would indeed be the best, but even the thing Android calls a widget (which would be on the home screen in vanilla Android, but in my /e/os is accessible by moving left on the home screen) would also be incredibly useful 😊

And that is why I made this issue and named it the way I did, because I assumed the floating overlay would be much more work than just a live update of the widget, since you already have code to show something in the widget.
