I did a bit of brainstorming / experimenting and figured out mackup alone will not be enough to completely manage the backups of application settings. I wrote up a detailed README that includes an example commit of what we need to do for all the entries in software.yml that have a flatpak or cask (as well as choco sometimes - but choco entries are not always GUI apps) entry. We only really need to do this for apps that involve logging in / setting up plugins etc.
