Update to dataset produces dataset identifier that doesn't exist or may have been removed

Describe the bug
There was one update to a dataset where we received a PID that didn't exist.

PI made an update and we got a notification that an update had been made, but when we click the link, it says "Nothing was found."

This was similar to a previous bug that was worked on in this issue #2371

The object does exist in the MN as a draft:

The draft includes the error message The previous identifier has already been made obsolete by... which was an issue #2724 that we expected was fixed with the recent release (2.35.0).

There are cases when the the previous identifier has already been made obsolete error is not handled:

• two users editing the same dataset at once (one saves, then the other tries to save and sees this error)
• one user saving from multiple open tabs.

Given that these should be rare cases, more investigation is needed to make sure something else isn't going on here...

The other issue is why the draft doesn't render in the viewer. Usually drafts show up with some info from the index. Solr does give results for this dataset:
