Editing Sound Database Entries
Once you have your connection to Twitch configured you and working, you can proceed to editing your own sound database entries.
- Click Sounds -> Sound Database Editor.
- Click Add to add new sound command.
- Type in the name of command that is going to be used (for example what).
- Right click in Files field and Add files that are going to be used for playback (if there is more than 1 sounds, a random file will be picked each time a command is used). Alternatively files can be also manually dragged and dropped into a field window.
- Note that wav, ogg and mp3 files are supported.
- In Requirement field specify role required in order to play the sound. These are handled in hierarchical order, so selecting Public allows every chat user to use the sound command. Selecting Subscribers / Trusted allows Subscribers and users on Trusted list as well as Moderators and Broadcaster himself/herself. Selecting Moderators allows only Moderators and Broadcaster to use it etc.
- You can also fill in additional Description, which will be used for exporting sounds.
- Make sure to Save the the changes.
- To edit entries go to Sound Database editor and double click on command.
- This will open the window identical to the one used when adding new sound command.
- To remove sound command go to Sound Database editor and select sound command to delete.
- Click either Remove button or Delete key on your keyboard to remove the entry.
- If you want to remove a single sound from entry, just edit the entry (see section above) select unwanted sound file, right click on it and Remove it.
Basic Twitch Sound Player allows for additional configuration of how the sounds are being played.
One of the options available is to set up manually an Output device. This is useful in cases when a streamer wants to use sound playback, but prefers to keep a clean track in OBS recording. This can be achieved using Virtual Cables in a way identical which is used when setting OBS to not record music played by streamer.
Additionally it's possible to set up Sound Redemption Logic. Because not every streamer is going to be an Affiliate or Partner an option is available to set it to Legacy (command and user cooldowns). In this mode, users can use -SOUND_COMMAND in a chat.
A better option available for Affiliates and Partners is using Twitch channel points - in this mode a specific channel points reward can be specified (with a text field) that is going to be recognized and used by the program to play the sound. In both modes the same role requirements are used.
- First of all make sure you've configured a separate custom reward. This can be done in your Twitch Dashboard under Community / Channel Points.
- Add a custom reward and configure it. Make sure to check fields Require Viewer to Enter Text and preferably Skip Reward Requests Queue (so it doesn't clatter reward request queue). A good idea might be to set up cooldown limit or at least 1 min (or higher depending on how active chat is). As reward icon you might use a custom icon available in Release directory
