I'm following the same guide but my pix loss is not going down at all it goes like 1.2 then 4.2 like this is this a expected behavior.

As I remember, there was indeed some small increase at the beginning of training on some device, when trained with multiple GPUs. I'm not sure whether that's what you mean.
You can find the log files on my Google Drive folder (given in README) for all BiRefNet models -- exp-xxx for the experiment files of xxx. If still different, you can use something reproducible like DIS5K for a training of several epochs and compare it with my log files. If it's normal this time, the problem might be in your custom data.
