Release mismatches

Currently there is a release mismatch across the distribution channels:

• Source (master): 16.2.3
• GitHub tag: 16.2
• PyPI: 16.2.5

It would really be appreciated if the releases are in sync. Especially the source and the GitHub tags otherwise it would be tricky if distributions need to patch something.

Unfortunately, now the release cycle is arranged in such a way that it is not possible to make a tag every release. I'll think about how this can be fixed, but if you have any ideas I'd be interested in considering them.
