version 1.18 of Bimp doesnt work with GIMP 3.0

According to the website, "Warning! Starting from v2.0, BIMP is no more compatible with GIMP 2.8 and older.
If you need it, you can still use version 1.18"
I've installed the 1.18 installer, ran it(it tells you to choose GIMP directory) and it doesn't work. I've tried every possible GIMP folder (root,lib,include,plugins,etc) and it tells me the file path is invalid. Specifically, "Error: Invalid GIMP Plugins folder C:\Program Files\GIMP 3\lib\gimp\3.0\plug-ins\lib\gimp\2.0\plugins" I got this message after choosing "C:\Program Files\GIMP 3\lib\gimp\3.0\plug-ins" as my path. I downloaded the source code for the 1.18 and tried to install it through the make-file and makewin.bat there, but keep getting errors because of the endless dependency and specific paths there. I'm not sure this is a new issue or if I'm installing it incorrectly, but I cannot use any version of Bimp because you can only install the latest version of Gimp from its website
Edit: I've seen the other messages about this error here. None of them have helped, I specifically specified both paths in the "preferences>folders>plug-ins" section of GIMP(tried both their roots,lib,and plug-in folders) and none have worked

There is a workaround available for Microsoft Windows 11.

1. Uninstall GIMP 3.
2. Install GIMP 2.10.38. [This is the most recent version of GIMP before GIMP 3.]
3. Install GIMP Help 2.10.34. [There does not appear to be a Help 2.10.38 but 2.10.34 will work.]
4. Install BIMP 2.6.
5. Install GIMP 3 from Microsoft Store.

GIMP 2 and GIMP 3 will both work together on Windows 11 if GIMP 2 is installed manually and GIMP 3 is installed from the Microsoft Store. GIMP 2 and GIMP 3 show as separate applications on the Windows Start Menu. You cannot run GIMP 2 at the same time as GIMP 3 though (only one version will run at a time).

Until BIMP can be updated, batch editing will have to be on GIMP 2 whereas non-batch editing can be on GIMP 3.

You can also manually install both GIMP 2 and GIMP 3 without using the Microsoft Store. It appears that Offline Help for GIMP 3 is only available when installing manually. I still recommend to uninstall GIMP 3 first, then install GIMP 2, then install GIMP 2 Help, then install BIMP 2, then install GIMP 3, then install GIMP 3 Help.

Okay, thank you! I followed your instructions and BIMP is working for 2.10.38, but GIMP help is buggy for GIMP 3.0.1 . Specifically, the "User Manual" button in the help section is completely unresponsive, while "Context Help" option is taking me to the manual using file-path on my computer(in a browser) "file:///C:/Program%20Files/GIMP%203/share/gimp/3.0/help/en/gimp-image-window.html" . Do you happen to know why this issue is happening. Its not a big deal since you solved my main issue and I still have manual 2.10.34 working, but the issue is just bugging me🤣

I used the following files to install GIMP 2 with BIMP and Offline Help:

The help pages are different between GIMP 2 and GIMP 3. In both, offline help has to be manually enabled in the GIMP preferences. For GIMP 2, offline help shows in an internal browser within GIMP, whereas in GIMP 3, offline help opens in an external desktop browser. Offline help doesn't work for GIMP 3 if it is installed from the Microsoft Store.

So far both GIMP 2 and GIMP 3 are working well for me. I am using GIMP 2 for batch editing and GIMP 3 for non-batch editing. I haven't experienced any conflicts. GIMP 2 and GIMP 3 are listed separately in the Windows Start menu and also use different program icons so you can tell them apart.

I used the default recommended install settings for each: GIMP 2 is installed into the Windows Program Files directory whereas GIMP 3 is installed in the Windows User AppData folder.

GIMP team have already declared that various legacy APIs used in 2.10 release were removed from 3.0 release channel.

Unfortunately Batcher is not as user-friendly as BIMP. As a casual/nontechnical GIMP user, I can't even figure out simple operations like a horizontal/mirror flip with Batcher. I'll stick with GIMP 2 for now but I'd recommend either trying to get BIMP working for GIMP 3 or otherwise trying to upgrade Batcher to incorporate some of the user-friendly options from BIMP. A quick-access menu for Batcher of common operations like flip and rotate would be helpful.

BIMP v1.18 release date was Jan 21, 2017. Very old to support GIMP v3.x.x

Even latest BIMP v.2.6 (Aug 3, 2021) does not support GIMP v3.x.x

I hope, Developer may update BIMP v.2.6 to support GIMP v3.x.x

BIMP v.2.5 or older support for GIMP v3.x.x may not come.
