Consistent version numbering scheme for releases #156

I don't know if there's any way to do this, but it would be nice for this project to have a consistent release numbering scheme, i/e no version "v1.8.5" and then "v186" and instead have them all be called "1.8.5", "1.8.6", "2.2.0" etc.

It is not super important but in the Guix package manager (and maybe others?) packagers use these tags to indicate which version, and unless paying attention someone might think v186 is more recent than 2.2.0 or accidentally pull it as an outdated dependency! Small thing that might save some random people a few minutes of time that you may not have been aware of. Thanks!
