If you want to build from the Dockerfile, then there is an extra step as described into the contributing.md file:

## Build the container image

podman load < $(nix build .#containerMonocle)
podman build -t quay.io/change-metrics/monocle:latest .

The monocle-exe layer is build from a Nix build of monocle.

The DockerfileUBI is more standard ...

ok so this image is never pushed... perhaps that should be commented in the dockerfile.
