Remove the models folder from the repository ?

Could it be possible to remove the models folder from the repository ?
In my setup, I removed the models folder and replaced it for a symlink pointing to another folder. That way, I can have multiple comfyui installs with the same models folder, for example.
But it has a disadvantage: when I update comfy, I need to rename my symlink and recreate the models folder, otherwise the update fails (using comfyui-manager). I suspect this is because it detects a conflict between my local install and the repository.

So, could it be possible to simply remove the models folder from the repository and have it being created programmatically by comfyui upon startup if the path doesn't exists ?

A more robust solution would be simply mounting your directory over /models. You can also use overlayfs if you're on Linux to combine a few directories on different disks into one view (any number of lower dirs that will be read-only and one upper dir that will accept writes). Another approach is using a Docker container where you can mount anything anywhere on container startup.

Then the simplest option is to create a branch with the upstream tracking option -t origin/master, delete the models directory and commit this change. Then when you do git pull it will merge then new commits from origin/master into this branch.
