mix-manifest.json is missing

Hi! I was wondering why the Mix manifest file was missing (via .gitignore): https://github.com/darryldecode/laravel-starter-kit/blob/master/.gitignore#L14.

As this seems to stop my application work in production...

Hi, the reason for this is mainly for the build scripts as part of the CI process or automated deployment process. This is a matter of preference though, or depends on your production requirements. In our company, we prefer this process :)
