Bar chart of current value with midnight reset

Hello,

I am trying to create a bar chart with some history for a measurement sensor. The value of the measurement is changing throughout the day and is naturally reset to 0.0% at midninght.
I am interested in a chart which shows the last value of a day for the past prior days and also the most recent value for the current day.

So far I have tried:

The bar chart indeed shows up, but the values are wrong. This seems to be related to the period: day property. Apparently it seems to do some computation on the values and does not just take the most recent sample.

How can I achieve what I've described above?

This depends mostly on the home assistant statistics API. I think the default statistic is mean, try with another one (e.g max).
For the current day you may need to add an extra datapoint at the end via filters and use the hass object to grab the current value.
There should be examples of this in the issues and discussions (just search for "hass")

Maybe you can add another trace with the same entity but normal short term history to compare (and paste a screenshot here). You can use the resample filter to make 1 bar per day

A regular plot shows the values just fine (the data is the self-sufficiency of the consumed energy (percentage of overall power obtained from solar energy). Below an image to demonstrate the strange behavior:

The correct value is 35.69% at the time the image is taken. The regular plot below shows the change of the value over the past days.
The final value of a day is the last value just prior midnight. The regular plot shows the current value just fine. The bar plot however has similar, but different data (I guess old). Changing the refresh perior makes no difference.

OK, so I think I found a solution. The issue is that the state property is only appropriate for past days, but not for today, so I am now splitting the data and do the plotting as follows:

I am not sure about the default bar width, but 69ks was visually close to the default. So far the results look good. I'll keep observing.

Pro tip, you can simplify:

When I run this as follows, I receive an error: "Error: at [entities.0.filters.1]: Error in filter: ReferenceError: hass is not defined"

Ahh, it was just lacking a "hass" in the arguments. The following works wonderfully! Thank you for this hint! This way I also do not need to specify any bar width or similar.

I gather data from an inverter, the inverter keeps a daily total of eg. PV production. At 23:09 the clock on the inverter reads 12pm and resets the counter to 0. I have no access to change the date on the inverter. Is there any way I can work around this data problem? I tried the above filters but the graphs still do not render correctly

This is the history of the sensor

At 23:10 every day all the graphs are not rendered and show 0 values (as the last hour of the day appears as 0)

This problem had me running in circles looking at reasons why data disappears, mean time it works perfectly, just the data source produces broken data with no way to fix it. How do I adjust the filters to discard all the small or 0 values at the end of the day?
