Actually I would prefer using MapLibre's geocoder since it supports multiple providers (not just MapTiler), might need to work out a way for the user to provide inputs to forwardGeocode and reverseGeocode.

Yes, your are right. To add the MapTiler Geocoding Control was somehow more straight forward. I will add both of them.
Could you provide info about which user parameters would be nice to pass.

probably a hash object that can contain arbitrary keys (e.g. for api keys, as different providers use different names and support different options). As for forwardGeocode, in order to support arbitrary providers, will need a JS function to be passed in (both to construct/send the actual geocoding request, and to handle/format the different responses that are returned). I have tried something like this with maputnik but it is only good for supporting a specific set of providers.

Yep. I got a POC for Noinatim working here. But I think it will work the way you described, that we need to specify the providers, because we cannot pass or I do not want to pass JS code from python to JS, should be a plain JSON Model.

The problem with having to specify providers is that there are like 10+ providers in the market (not considering the custom ones where queries are made against spatial datasets, e.g. ArcGIS feature layers), so having to support all that logic as part of the library will be very difficult. There is also the option of localGeocoder (see this), so an option to pass a stringified function as part of the JSON, will be convenient. Anyway, feel free to do what is reasonable from your standpoint.
