Authorization headers for source?

Thanks for this great library!

We'd like to be able to pass authorization headers (Bearer token) through to the server to access a private tile layer. I couldn't find any documentation or issues about this. Is it feasible and what work might be needed to enable it?

It shouldn't be a big issues, something like this should do the trick:

I just need an url to test it.

In principle, PRs are welcome, but at the moment I am refactoring the JS code and so it is a little bit difficult before it is finished.

I understand that a PR from a new contributor in the midst of a refactor can lead to headache. Can you share the timeline for the work you currently have in progress.

If you think it's straightforward to implement, we would be very grateful if you could add a general-purpose API like this
