configurable default comparison branch in commits view

Description

The 'compare' feature in the commits pane is very useful to see where my current copy of the code sits in relation to the branch it was based off of - but I constantly find myself clicking through to manually edit the branch for comparison to be 'origin/dev'.

If there were a way to set this by default - or even better, a way to set per-workspace? I would love to be able to default to comparing branches to 'origin/dev', and then only occasionally have to click through to edit the comparison target for exceptional cases.
