XIVLauncher 1.2.0 (14b6fcb) cannot obtain Process Handle as Steam Compatibility Tool

Issue began on 2025-06-24. When attempting login on XIVLauncher, it attempts to ensure compatibility tool, and can not obtain process handle. The game will not run. Running Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS. Service worked fine before 2025-06-24.

This is almost always caused by a network issue of some kind. The launcher is probably failing to download either wine or dxvk (or both). Check in ~/.xlcore/compatibilitytool/wine for wine releases, and ~/.xlcore/compatibilitytool/dxvk for dxvk releases. You can try a proxy or vpn, or try temporarily disabling ipv6.

You can download dxvk 2.6.1 from here: https://gitlab.com/Ph42oN/dxvk-gplasync/-/releases

Extract them to the apropriate folders and it should launch.

Seems to be the issue, as the wine folder was completely empty. Downloading and extracting wine as instructed seemed to fix the issue.

Stable release has been changed to https://github.com/goatcorp/wine-xiv-git/releases/download/10.8.r0.g47f77594/wine-xiv-staging-fsync-git-ubuntu-10.8.r0.g47f77594-nolsc.tar.xz. You can either download that or change wine release to Beta and it will use the previous Stable.
