Description
Hi all,
First of all thanks to all of you for your interest in this little project of mine that was born out of necessity in 2017 or so.
I am at a slightly annoying point now, though. I did open source this project because I thought it might be helpful for others, but it was very much a "scratch your own itch" project. Now that some of you seem to depend on it (no pun intended) in settings that are actually somewhat mission critical, I think this project starts to grow beyond it's original scope. And while I (my mind works in odd, twisted ways sometimes) I actually do enjoy working on this, in my current financial position there is very little incentive to spend more time on it than I need to make it work for my business case.
So, I wonder if we could change that. Getting your super valuable outside contributions in is a great step, but I feel like your incentives are probably quite narrow as well. (Which is understandable and fine!) - There are a couple of things I would need to change, I think, to turn this into a more sustainable, more robust project:
- Overhaul the test suite and make sure we have a good way to test ZUGFerD/Factur-X business rules that are not covered by the original schema/schematron validations.
- Documentation. I mean...
- Support other cases like Cancellation invoices
- Support the X-Rechnung schema and maybe other ZUGFeRD schemas like EXTENDED as well
While some of these might be possible to do with outside contributions from people who need the specific feature, I think there's some underlying infrastructure stuff that definitely needs a bit of care and ... time.
So, if I were to give you a way to sponsor my work on this, is anyone of you users of this library able to convince their employer to sponsor me?
Also, if you've spent some time on this codebase already and you think you could get your employer to allow you to work on it a little more beyond your immediate needs, I'd be happy to hear about this as well.
Of course Depfu will (more or less implicitly) continue to support my work, but it would be helpful if we could start to support this on a couple more shoulders, monetarily or time wise.
DISCUSS. :)
