Confusing choice of default

One of the messages I get running the curl... ghcup command is:

[S] Skip  [D] Default (GHCup maintained)  [V] Vanilla (Upstream maintained)  [?] Help (default is "Skip").

If one is a newbie (myself) and just trying to roll with the defaults: Is skip the default or default is the default?

Yes, this is a bit confusing.

The default is "Skip".

I guess we could change it to:

[S] Skip  [G] GHCup maintained  [V] Vanilla (Upstream maintained)  [?] Help (default is "Skip").

"Skip" means we won't set a config value... if there was no prior installation, that means "use GHCup maintained"... if there was a prior installation then that means we just keep what is already configured.

So that's the subtle difference between S and G. I don't know how else to make that clearer.

Tried to install ghcup too. I was confused enough to want to file an issue too.

So [S]kip is equivalent to "GHCup maintained" if there is no prior installation. Might it be a good idea to simply check for a prexisting installation. If there is no preexisting installation then [S] option is not shown to the user. You only have to choose between [G] and [V].

Maybe my workaround does not make sense due to some subtleties

However, I would change the current situation as it is thoroughly confusing. [S] Skip also basically "feels" skipping over some installation process rather than skipping over some config value so it feels a bit more "serious" to the end user. The pressure to not choose "S" feels strong when it should probably what most people should select, right ?
