Android app not staying dimmed when done via remote control

When I try to use the remote control feature using curl http://<my_ip_address>:53287/dim then it works and the frame dims immediately. But as soon as the photo changes after the usual 45s or so, it turns back on again. Is that expected behavior or a bug?

Is there some other command I can use to put the frame to sleep completely, until it I wake it up again by a remote control command?

I intend to use HomeAssistant to decide when to turn off the frame based on the room lights, presence etc.

Hi. I am not seeing this behavior, and no one else has reported this. Are you sending it any other curl commands while dimmed?

No I've not used any other command. Maybe it's something to do with the setup -- is there some debug mode or debug logs I can enable, that'll help debug this?

I realized the problem - I had Set Screen Dim Hours enabled on the frame. And then during the "non-dimming" time, the frame undims itself at every photo change.

Once I disable Set Screen Dim Hours then dim command works and the frame stays dimmed.

I don't know whether to deem this as a bug or it just needs to be documented as expected behavior.

Ah that makes sense. Not sure if this is worth "fixing" or not?

I at least view this as a bug because my default interpretation of "screen dim hours" is an OR condition - the frame dims itself in a time slot, but I can dim it from a remote command manually. I did not expect that it'll undim itself forcibly outside those hours, overriding the remote commands.

I think you should document this either as:

• Do not use both the remote commands and auto-dimming-hours together. And also put a note in the UI for Set Screen Dim hours.
• Or if you can, add the OR functionality to stay dimmed, and add that in documentation.
