WebView on older Nixplay device

I'm replacing the software on my Nixplay device (this one) and have gotten everything working. With the default of using WebView I just get a black screen. If I turn WebView off, it works fine, but I lose some of the nicer features of course. Is there some way to get WebView working on this device? I tried switching from an http to https endpoint and that didn't seem to make a difference.

In any case - thanks! You've rescued this device from the dumpster even if I can't get the WebView working.

I'm not sure honestly. I don't have one, but i know there is a large community of people who do/did. How locked down are they? I would imagine others have tried updating/repurposing these now that they screwed over everyone. Play around with ADB and see what access you have.
