local time common-volume too many colnes

not sure what is happening but when running this i get
doing a docker compose up

this error

invalid spec: /home/simon/docker/certs:/certs:ro, /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro: too many colons

What does your docker-compose.yml file look like? Specifically the volumes section. It should have the volumes on separate lines

    volumes:
      - /home/simon/docker/certs:/certs:ro
      - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro

not like

volumes:
  - /home/simon/docker/certs:/certs:ro, /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro:

i am using the x-common-volumes:

x-common-volumes: &common-volumes 
  ${USERDIR}/docker/certs:/certs:ro
  - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro

which comes in like this in the service.

    volumes:
      - ${USERDIR}/docker/plexpy:/config
      - /var/log/plexpy:/logs:ro
      - *common-volumes

also tried it like this

x-common-volumes: &common-volumes >-
  ${USERDIR}/docker/certs:/certs:ro,
  /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro

Ah ok, I think you'll want to define the common volumes like this:

x-common-volumes: &common-volumes
  - ${USERDIR}/docker/certs:/certs:ro
  - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro

then in the service:

    volumes:
      - ${USERDIR}/docker/plexpy:/config
      - /var/log/plexpy:/logs:ro
      - *common-volumes

the main issue is that volumes must always be defined as a YAML list (with - prefixes), not as a comma-separated string.

If neither of those work, try:

    volumes:
      - ${USERDIR}/docker/plexpy:/config
      - /var/log/plexpy:/logs:ro
      - ${USERDIR}/docker/certs:/certs:ro
      - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro

That doesn't seem to work; I think the tab/spacing is out. Also, with the above, it puts in 2'-`
