ipython notebook sessions do not recover after client disconnects

If you open a notebook, lose your internet connection for more then five minutes, and regain your connection, the notebook will be grayed out and nothing will be clickable. Manually reloading the page fixes it, but trying that is probably non-obvious to many users.
