If you update Xamarin.Forms package to the last stable version (2.5.0.91635) it won't change the font. Actually, if you watch e.Child.GetType() it only returns ActionMenuView, but never TextView.

Now the text in the navigationbar is of type android.support.v7.widget.AppCompatTextView, so in Toolbar_ChildViewAdded function you must change comparison to e.Child is Android.Widget.TextView or similar.
