Can't get ipycanvas to work

I followed the instructions from the documentation and I installed ipycanvas for python 3.10.4. I am not getting any errors, but I can't get ipycanvas to work in a classical jupyter notebook. I tried running in a jupyter nb the example below, but I just get Canvas(height=200, width=200) as the output. How can I get it to display the canvas?

canvas = Canvas(width=200, height=200)

canvas.fill_rect(25, 25, 100, 100)
canvas.clear_rect(45, 45, 60, 60)
canvas.stroke_rect(50, 50, 50, 50)

Which Jupyter notebook version are you using?

Thanks for the response, Martin! The real issue is actually trying to get ipycanvas to work in a Quarto notebook with a Jupyter kernel. The Jupyter widgets seem to work fine in a Quarto notebook with a Jupyter kernel, and I was hoping that I could get ipycanvas to work as well, but I could not. Then, I tried it in a Jupyter notebook on the Posit Cloud and it did not work there either. I ran jupyter nbclassic --version in the terminal on the Posit Cloud and it gave me 0.5.5.
