nemo: Whenever you install new software, entries are missing from the context menu when you open it for the first time

Whenever you install software manually or from the software management system, entries disappear from the context menu that you open with a right-click. The next time you open it, all entries are back again.

Can you provide detailed steps here? Is this Cinnamon?

Do you mean right-clicking applications in the start menu? Or some other location?

Yes it is cinnamon. I'm talking about the right-clicking menu which opens when you for example click on an empty place on the desktop.

Steps:

1. Install some software
2. Rightclick on empty place on desktop so menu opens
3. See that entries are missing
4. Open menu again entries are back
5. repeat

What entries are missing? Is there no menu at all? Are you installing something that provides a menu entry there (like an app that a nemo action depends on)?

If I install a random application it has no effect on the desktop context menu for me, but I wouldn't expect it to have.

Ahhh... the blank area (this is a known technical issue around how menus are sized) - but are things actually missing or is the menu box just too big for its content?

How does it look when it's working? (The second time you open it) - sorry, I know it's a pain to take a screenshot of a popup menu. By the way, if you launch 'Screenshots' from the start menu, you can assign a 'delay' before the screenshot gets taken, allowing you time to stage the shot and open the context menu

Yes it isn't fun. I always have to install a new software to make it happen for the first time. This time i installed Gimp.

The same problem happens with LM 22.2 Cinnamon. (I installed an own packaged sw. which inserted its entry into the Menu.)

If I may: I see the same empty space in the nemo-desktop context menu sometimes, and only until the menu gets re-shown, under Mint Cinnamon 22.2; I do not know what triggers the oddity. I take it then that this is a known problem that occurs on Mint . .

I can reproduce this in 6.4, but I cannot in 6.6 unless I have that context menu open while the install operation is taking place, which I expect, because the actions are being reloaded (and their associated menu entries destroyed).
