Unable to connect to kernel

A connection to the notebook server could not be established. The notebook will continue trying to reconnect. Check your network connection or notebook server configuration.

I can connect to other kernels just fine, I only get this error message when trying to start an SWI-Prolog notebook. Am I doing something wrong?

Hey,

what OS are you using? What's your jupyter setup? Do you have a writable tempdir? Which Python version are you using?? Are all dependencies installed? Those might be most interesting to take a look at:

import IPython
import jupyter_client
from IPython.utils.process import getoutput
from backports import tempfile

I'll write some more documentation next weekend :)

OS: Fedora 29
Python: 3.7.3
AFAIK all dependencies are installed
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'backports'

I'm not sure if I have a writable tempdir. Is that /tmp by default?

yep /tmp is your default and writable for the serverprocess.

please try installing backports.tempfile

tempfile is included in the python standard library.

The user that jupyter runs under has read/write access to /tmp

Hello,
I have the same issue, but in my case, when I install the Astrill VPN setup (not connected), the jupyter is unable to connect to Loalhost, and this message appears. But if I uninstall the Astrill VPN, everything is normal and works fine.
I am not using a VPN while using Juypter Notebook. Currently, i am in China; that's why i need VPN to access google services
