online/offline state applies to all opencast objects that link to the same series

Describe the bug
changes to the online/offline state of a video are applied to all opencast objects that are linked to this opencast series.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. have a series in opencast with at least one video
2. add the series at least a second time in ilias (either in another course, or in a group or whatever)
3. Change state of a video in one of those objects to offline
4. See that it also changes the state in other opencast objects for this series

The behavior is the same for both methods to link an opencast series. a) choose an existing series when creating a new object and b) when linking the object to another place from the ilias context menu

Expected behavior
The state change should only apply to the current/active object.

Additional context
Since this state is only used on the ilias side of things there should be no conflict with opencast.

I recommend not changing this.

Of course, it is confusing, especially because with opencast we have two different variants of how objects can be ‘linked’. We have already had this discussion. The ILIAS core only knows one way to link (via the actions menu). Here is how it works (as of ILIAS 10, tested) The online/offline status depends on the object and NOT on the reference (link). With ILIAS 10, a central service was also introduced for this, which we should also use as a plugin in future (\ilObjectPropertyIsOnline). The opencast plugin would then behave differently to core objects.

In my opinion, this shows even more that the two ways in which links are created in Opencast from a technical point of view are becoming increasingly difficult to conceptualise.

@chfsx: If I am not mistaken, you refer in your comment to the online/offline status of the Opencast object as a whole. Correct? Because this issue isn't about this status. It is about the online/offline status of every video in an Opencast object.

Thanks for pointing that out! Yes, I meant the entire status. However, I feel the same way about videos. If a series is displayed in several places, it should be the same everywhere; anything else is confusing and difficult to follow. For example: publish a video? This is done in both places. Delete a video? This is done in both places. Take it offline? Only in one place... That would be very strange in my opinion.

In meeting:

• Status is saved in ILIAS, so technicaly it is possible to differentiate between links. But: Changing this is pretty difficult and may take quite some time and an update step would be needed. Plus for both linking options the mentioned work is needed.
• No hard feelings or preferences from present members. But: For only one property the status would be different. Therefore, slight preference to leave it as it is.

Very unfortunate in my opinion. I agree that it could be confusing for users. But when you argue that publishing and deleting the video also happens in all references to the series we don't need another mechanism for online/offline on the LMS side that affects all references to the series. Instead of toggling the state only in ILIAS you could then simply retract/publish the video in Opencast via a workflow.
The online/offline toggle was always something that only altered the view in ILIAS so it was always a special case.

For the use case where the suggested behavior would have been nice you would now have to rely on the individual rights management which is very cumbersome for courses with hundreds of members..

If we don't want to adjust the behavior of this I would propose removing the option entirely.

Thank for your comment, @reiferschris. After having thought about it a second time I see your point and have a slight preference for changing behavior of the online/offline toggle. Let us discuss and decide this in next weeks community meeting.

In meeting: Arguments from @reiferschris make totally sense. Therefore, we decide to have it implemented. Rough estimation from Fabian: at least 4h. Possibility to make a breaking change and not migrate the existing statuses.
Will be but in backlog and taken care at a later stage.
