Compile ngspice with --enable-xspice

Hello! Thanks, @pepijndevos for adding ngspice with #102. (Here is the recipe: https://github.com/pyodide/pyodide-recipes/blob/main/packages/libngspice/meta.yaml.)

However, I'd like to compile with --enable-xspice, because I would like to use the Digital-to-Analog Node Bridge.

I'm happy to look into adding this functionality.

However, I'm having troubles building the existing package. Is there a dockerfile somewhere with the correct versions of pyodide, emsdk, python, etc? Or should I create it myself? Or is there a better way to build the package locally?

Hi @sifferman, thanks for your interest.

You can prepare Python 3.13 and run the following commands to prepare the local build environment

# install pyodide build toolchain
pip install pyodide-build

# install emscripten and activate it with proper version
git clone https://github.com/emscripten-core/emsdk
cd emsdk
./emsdk install $(pyodide config get emscripten_version)
./emsdk activate $(pyodide config get emscripten_version)
source emsdk_env.sh

# build ngspice
# run this command in the pyodide-recipes root directory.
pyodide build-recipes ngspice

Thanks Ryan, I haven't done this since the repo was split up, good to know.

I'll be glad to help enabling more ngspice features, as they will be good to have in NyanCAD, my web based schematic editor and simulation environment. I initially went for the bare minimum to avoid trouble.

But sadly I'm still waiting on Marimo to update their pyodide so I can run simulations in the browser in a python notebook.
