Setting Up Firmware

Hello There. I just finished getting the main hardware build of Spot. Servos in place (unfortunately not calibrated), body printed & assembled. The next step for me is getting the firmware up & running so I can run the "calib" function & assign servo offsets if required. Unfortunately, I have never used VSCode or Platform IO for such tasks (only did normal programming there not uploading to ESP's).

I was able to get the GitHub files via GitBash in my programmer. I have no idea how to get all the dependencies in place & then use Platform IO. I tried but the IO took forever to build, when I reopened again it gave some random run-scripts which I couldn't figure how to use. If possible kindly guide me through to getting the firmware setup & uploaded.

The Specs of my SpotMicro are:
1- ESP32 S3 Xiao (https://www.seeedstudio.com/XIAO-ESP32S3-Sense-p-5639.html) (Brand new, not used or flashed before)
2- 20kg Servos 180 Degree (https://rees52.com/products/dsservo-ds3218-20kg-waterproof-servo-180-270-optional-degree-rotation-servo-high-speed-metal-gear-digital-servo-for-1-8-1-10-rc-cars)

4- 6V 40A Power Supply Directly connected to PCA9685 for Servos
5- Separate 3/5V Battery for ESP & Sensors

Setup of frontend

After cloning the firmware you should install the dependencies for the frontend,

1. By navigating to /app
2. Installing them with npm install

Flashing of ESP

1. Open the folder esp in vscode
   From the docs:

Update the platformio.ini file for your board, then navigate to the PlatformIO tab, select your environment, 
click Upload Filesystem Image and after uploading finish, click Upload and Monitor. 
The filesystem image only has to be uploaded the first time and will override config files on the microcontroller. 
When uploading new firmware the app is evaluated and if necessary will be rebuild.

Well after a reinstall of Svelte & Rebuilding, I was able to get the latest Pull run without issue as before. Everything goes right until...

The first page seems fine, the device is responding in terminal but

The page is just blank, even after waiting for 5mins. All the pages. I checked in the Svelte reddit and community. Apparently, the issue I faced also happened to more users when updating from Svelte 3 to 4 and so on. Some files or modules don't get up to date as soon as the main and might cause issues. Might be the same case here? I noticed the recent comments had updates to more Svelte related files so maybe those too helped my case.

What is there in the browser console? I just tried setting up a new installation, but i cannot reproduce the issue

Good News, after a bunch of redownload and updates + Taking out the faulty connector wire, I was able to get it up on a clean firefox browser. I dunno it ran perfectly previously on Edge & Chrome but now even if I try it woudn't open in em. But hey least it works, must be some browser settings or something. Now i just hope to get it running before something else breaks xD

Next step would be the actual and possibly disastrous Servo Calib in Frame. Thankfully I saw the other thread about it so would follow that!

also I think the keyboard key binds in the stand phase might be reversed. Left goes right and forward goes backward in the sim. Not like it would affect might but just pointed out

As for the logs, it was same as this previously when it wasn't working

Good to hear you can run it now. I have updated the keyboard bind - Good suggestion. Are the esp32 connecting to you wifi or is it hosting an AP you are connecting to

No, its going via my router. I haven't still powered it externally (its connected to my pc via usb) so that's something to try today also.

Dear,
i have also some issues running the app.

1. I cloned the repository.
2. In the app folder I installed dependencies pnpm install
3. Being in the app folder I created new project npx sv create - > create in the same directory -> Svelte library -> No typeScript -> Installed node adapter -> pnpm
   3a) stuck on installing dependencies with pnpm

If I delete node_modules, the the creation is okay, but run build return an error.
Is the way correct or should I do something in different way?

You do not need to create a new svelte project. After cloning the repo you only have to install the app dependencies like this:

cd app
pnpm install
