createNativeStackNavigator vs createStackNavigator results in different stacking context

It appears that when using createNativeStackNavigator from react-navigation and using a modal presentation, the resulting z-index position of any notification appears hidden beneath the modal. You can see in the screenshot, the red in the background is the notification, however it is behind the modal. This only occurs with createNativeStackNavigator, but this is the preferred method of creating navigation stacks according to the react-navigation team
