Question: Why such a manual installation process?

Firstly thanks for the lib. 

I am curious what effort would the involved in streamlining the installation process.  It is not clear to me why it is necessary to manually link files in Xcode, having not encountered this in anywhere else.  

I would be happy to attempt this work but it would be helpful to get some context first.
