Feature Description
I'd like to propose a Groq plugin as well as i'm looking to work on this plugin, if permitted.
While you can call Groq through OpenAI client, it might have some effect on inference speed as well as enable clearer integration path and enable Groq-specific features
Use Case Description
Currently, developers who want to use Groq with SuperDuperDB must rely on the OpenAI-compatible client and manually point it to Groq’s endpoint. While functional, this approach is not obvious to new users, adds extra setup friction, and hides Groq as a first-class option.
By having a dedicated Groq plugin, developers can:
- Directly configure Groq as a provider with minimal setup.
- Take advantage of Groq’s low-latency inference for real-time applications (e.g., chatbots, RAG pipelines, interactive dashboards).
- Benchmark Groq models against other providers inside SuperDuperDB to make data-driven deployment choices.
- This plugin would simplify adoption for teams exploring Groq and provide a more intuitive developer experience while keeping SuperDuperDB aligned with its goal of making databases AI-native with flexible provider integrations.
Organization
This feature would primarily be used in the context of experimentation and app development with SuperDuperDB, where low-latency inference is important.
As an individual contributor exploring ways to extend SuperDuperDB’s ecosystem, I want to build a plugin that makes it easier for developers, startups, and research teams to adopt Groq as a backend for LLM-powered applications (e.g., chatbots, RAG systems, real-time assistants) without needing to configure OpenAI endpoints manually.
