svg: alignment-baseline does not work in inkscape or GNOME image viewer

`BackendSVG` uses the text property `alignment-baseline` for vertical alignment of text, but this does not work in either inkscape or the GNOME image viewer (it works correctly on google chrome). Is there a more widely supported vertical alignment property in SVG?
