For example:

under the server, click configuration, QS (I just understood it is Query Store). We see a list of servers and "column" OFF, i understand the QS setting is off. Sometimes it is not very obvious/easy to understand . If every screen has some kind of help for the columns, it would make very good sense, users can hover over the columns and get some information.

I know all the data is in tables, if we can store the column info under "description" we can retrieve it .

The Description in the designer would add a MS_Description extended property associated with the column. Extended properties are a reasonable way to provide database documentation. It won't work well for use in the GUI as a stored procedure is used to return data - the information about where the columns have came from is lost. They might come from multiple tables or be calculated. In the case of the OFF column, this is calculated as a count of rows with actual_state = 0.

Some reports already include a tooltip with some more info about the column. It would make sense to use this in more places. The first step would be to allow a description to be associated with a column in the custom reports feature, as these are now used as a base for many new system reports. The column descriptions are then just metadata associated with each report.

If you can provide additional examples of where you think columns need explanation that would be useful.
