Setting up fake worker failed

One of our customers encountered an error when launching the view that uses VUE-PDF-VIEWER.

The error is:

Setting up fake worker failed: "Failed to fetch dynamically imported module: https://euclide.cse.geonetworkcloud.it/assets/pdfjs-dist/legacy/build/pdf.worker.min.mjs "

The customer has tried two devices with the following configurations:

• Windows 7+Chrome 109
• Linux Ubuntu 21.10+Chrome 100

We understand that the problem is related to pdf.js, but we do not know how to resolve it.

Thanks for sharing the details, and I appreciate your patience.

Upon investigation, this issue seems to be caused by the worker not being properly mounted to the PDF library.

We’ve also found that newer versions of pdfjs-dist don’t work reliably with either legacy or modern builds in this setup. From our testing, only pdfjs-dist@3.x works correctly. However, please note that Vue PDF Viewer no longer officially supports v3.

You can try overriding the peer dependency to use pdfjs-dist@3.x, but just a heads-up, there are some known issues:

• Search keywords may not get highlighted
• Opening large files can sometimes result in errors
