WebML WG/CG scheduling poll for TPAC 2025 (Kobe, Japan)

TPAC 2025, W3C's annual all-groups conference, will take place 10-14 November 2025 in Kobe, Japan. The venue is Kobe International Conference Center.

My expectation is the WebML WG participants prefer to meet during the TPAC week. I also expect we will have a joint meeting with the WebML CG. Group meetings can happen on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. We can influence the schedule by sharing our group's preference.

Please add a comment with your schedule preferences (if any) latest by 18 June 2025.

We will review the meeting plan at our 19 June 2025 telcon and I will update the upstream issue with the group's latest information, for consideration by the TPAC planners.

Here's my initial proposal:

If possible, I would like to avoid conflicts between any WebML CG meeting time and any WHATWG meeting time. Thanks!

All - If you're considering remote participation, Japan Standard Time Monday morning converts to e.g. West Coast Sunday afternoon and in Europe Monday night. This is not great for remote participation.

Below is an alternative proposal that would shift the Working Group meeting to Tuesday (to avoid Sunday remote), and use Monday for the Community Group meeting:

Community Group:

• Monday, 9:00 - 10:30
• Monday, 11:00 - 12:30
• Monday, 13:45 - 15:00
• Monday, 15:30 - 16:45

Working Group:

• Tuesday, 9:45 - 11:00
• Tuesday, 11:30 - 13:00
• Tuesday, 14:15 - 16:00
• Tuesday, 16:30 - 18:00

Feedback welcome on whether this option is preferred. I understand you may not know whether you're participating in person or remotely this early, so the best effort estimate is fine.

11 November 2025, 09:45–18:00 Japan Standard Time

Due to large number of meetings, the planners couldn't avoid all conflicts and this selection introduced a conflict with WHATWG's 11 November 2025 09:45​–​18:00.

@domenic do you have visibility at this stage whether you'd be in WHATWG the entire Tue 09:45​–​18:00? Would either AM or PM on Tue be any better? How's your Monday plan looking? To mitigate this conflict, we could flip some WebML CG topics to Mon given good overlap in participation and the fact these two groups work closely together.

Hi Anssi,

It is with mixed feelings that I say I won't be attending TPAC after all, due to my impending retirement. On the plus side, that helps with the schedule conflict! (I think my replacements won't have such a conflict.)
