Screen Guide
The program screen allows you to continue running processes even after you log out or accidentally disconnect from the hpc. This is vital since Sol runs for hours at a time.
##How Do I use Screen?
Your first time running screen is incredibly simple. All you have to do is run screen then continue as normal.
The power in screen is its ability to detach. This detaching is what allows you to continue running Sol while disconnected. To detach your screen session simply hit the shortcut
[ctrl]+A d
When you log back in you first need to reattach you screen session. To list all screen sessions running, enter:
screen -ls
[nrcallahan@service1 nrcallahan]$ screen -ls
There are screens on:
11310.pts-8.service1 (Detached)
18669.pts-29.service1 (Detached)
24717.pts-14.service1 (Detached)
3 Sockets in /var/run/screen/S-nrcallahan.
This will list how ever many sessions you have.
The left column is the name of the session. To reattach a session run:
screen -r 24717.pts-14.service1, where 24717.pts-14.service1 is the name of the session you want to reattach
