Troubleshooting

  1. Pointer stuttering

    • For short freezing during mouse click, it's an intented feature to allow click and double click with a moving pointer.

    • For continuous stuttering, it may occur during or after using the controller under poor Bluetooth coverage. Try to keep the controller within good Bluetooth coverage and reconnect.

  2. Pointer or keys having no effect on some programs

    • To work with some system programs like Task Manager, or programs run as admin, this app also needs to be run as admin, otherwise Windows won't let them work together.

    • Most games need the game mode to work, follow detailed configurations guide to enable game mode.

  3. Connection lost just after connected

    • Check battery level, try to replace batteries if running low.

    • If the Bluetooth adapter driver has the Power Management tab, the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" needs to be unchecked.

  4. Connection unsuccessful with LED blinking in blue

    • No manual pairing is needed. If the controller has been manually paired previously, try to remove it from the Windows Bluetooth devices list, restart the computer, then let the app connect itself.
  5. Connection successful for once, then unable to connect again after disconnected

    • It may occur in some specific versions of Windows or with some specific installations of other software. Try to modify the setting PairDevice from True to False in the config file "C:\Program Files\Gear VR Controller\Gear_VR_Controller.dll.config" (default, text editor needs to be run as admin). Remove the controller from the Windows Bluetooth devices list, restart the app and try again.
