Troubleshooting

  1. Pointer or keys having no effect on some programs

Check battery level, replace batteries if running low.

To work with some system programs like Task Manager, or programs run as admin, this app also needs to be run as admin, otherwise Windows won't let them work together.

  2. Connection lost just after connected

If the Bluetooth adapter driver has the Power Management tab, the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" needs to be unchecked. If using a USB Bluetooth dongle, disable similar settings.

  3. Connection successful for once, then unable to connect again after disconnected

No manual pairing is needed. If it has been manually paired previously, try to remove it in the Windows Bluetooth devices list.

For some specific versions of Windows 11, try to modify the setting PairDevice from True to False in the config file "C:\Program Files\Gear VR Controller\Gear_VR_Controller.dll.config" (default, text editor needs to be run as admin) and restart the app.

  4. Pointer stuttering

It may occur during or after using the controller under poor Bluetooth coverage, try to keep the controller within good Bluetooth coverage and reconnect.
