Looks like the version check is gone as the URL throws a 404, so just use the official https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/gn36_firstpostedit/ instead.

If this approach is not desired a similar to Tatiana5/profile_side_switcher#33 / Tatiana5/profile_side_switcher#34 could be also done to add the version checking directly based on the GitHub repository.
