In the BusyBox-Kernel (for instance on QNAP-NAS) the 'mktemp'-command have no support for the '-t'-switch and right problems to create subdirs in some dircetorys.

basically I already fiddled a lot with this to make it work on linux+macosx.
Is there a way to make this non-ugly? And have you tested your changes on linux and osx?
And is there a way to test this? My busybox does have a -t switch on mktemp.
