Welcome to the Xcode-Git-User-Script wiki!

This is a “User Script” add on for Xcode. It auto generates a pre-set .gitignore and .gitattributes in the directory of your choosing. You should place these two files in the root directory of your project so Git can see what to ‘ignore’. Please refer to Git instructions for proper use. When the script is activated a file save dialog ( 2 sequentially ) appears with the names prepopulated ( .gitignore or .gitattributes ). Just save those to the appropriate directory ( your project root ). The os will ‘warn’ you that " . " prefixed periods – are reserved for system files – but you may ignore this warning and continue. Once the files are saved – they will not be visible to the finder so to check on them please use your terminal.

No warranties of this script is provided – use at your own risk!

I cobbled this together from a variety of resources posted on other sites and hacked the Xcode “User Script” section into place. If you see something you can make better please feel free to modify and let me know!
