  • Font-kit uses the DWRITE_RENDERING_MODE_NATURAL rendering mode when rasterizing with the directwrite backend
  • However, most apps tend to use DWRITE_RENDERING_MODE_NATURAL_SYMMETRIC, which results in text that is better aliased.

See screenshot below to see an example of using DWRITE_RENDERING_MODE_NATURAL (right) vs DWRITE_RENDERING_MODE_NATURAL_SYMMETRIC (left)
