INTERACT plugin
Target audience: XR / Software developers / Technical Educators
INTERACT is a Unity plugin for industrials who want to create human-centric simulations in virtual reality. It is one of the proposed XR2Learn Enabler.
The main features of INTERACT are summarized as follows:
- Embedded physics engine: handling multi-body dynamics, collision detection, friction, and kinematics, providing realistic behavior for objects in a 3D environment.
- Advanced collision detection: This feature allows accurate and efficient detection of collisions between objects, even when dealing with complex models.
- Cables: The software can simulate cables and flexible beams using finite element analysis, providing realistic representations of these elements in the 3D environment.
- Natural hand interactions: This feature allows users to manipulate 3D objects directly with their hands, providing a more natural and intuitive way to interact with the virtual environment whether using VR controllers or hand-tracking systems.
- Scenarization: This module is designed for assembly training, which allows creating and editing complex assembly scenarios. This module supports gamifying scenes and creating a pedagogical scenario through a node-based graphical interface.
To use the Enabler INTERACT, you must have:
- A VR-ready computer (appropriate graphics card: see INTERACT FAQ)
- Latest version of SteamVR installed (minimum recommended version 2.1)
- Unity version 2022.3 LTS (minimum and recommended) installed with a valid Unity Pro license
See more details within the INTERACT documentation.
You will need to download and import the INTERACT Unity Package, then create a new INTERACT project via the INTERACT Template. Check our documentation for more details.
Once your Unity project is created and open, follow this guide to start with INTERACT.
Some of its use cases are:
- Review: Review CAD and point cloud in virtual reality. Visualize your digital twin at 1:1 scale using virtual reality. Navigate, measure and spot design issues earlier.
- Simulate: Reproduce the physical behavior of your processes interactively. Ensure parts fitting, cables routing, and tool accessibility.
- Interact: Manipulate, touch, and try your product before building it. Experiment and validate product usage.
- Publish: Share your simulation and deploy your executable. Train your users on complex tasks.
We hope that bringing INTERACT as a core Enabler for the XR2Learn community will make it easier for teachers to create complex industrial simulations, and quicker for students to experiment, fail and learn within various work scenarios where immersive training and digital twins are suitable.

The official documentation contains details on how to install and use the plugin, covering all its features in details, configurations, and best practices. It includes step-by-step guides, troubleshooting tips, code examples, and use cases to ensure you can effectively integrate and utilize the plugin in your projects.
Live demo and webinars as well as tutorials can be found on LS GROUP YouTube channel, complete with guidelines and expert insights to help you deepen your understanding of INTERACT and apply it in practical scenarios.
